GALATEIA
“We wanted a yacht as an answer to a busy life:
a simple place without distractions, minimal
furnishings, zen temple to the sea and wind,”
says Galateia’s owner. They got what they asked
for – as well as “the exhilarating experience
to steer a fast boat even with the medium-light
wind conditions of Med summers”. Another
Reichel/Pugh boat, with Alexia Leuschen
interiors and built at Green Marine, she’s
a significant leap in performance and
functionality. Hull design, sailplan,
appendages and structural engineering
were reassessed, the hull shape was improved
to increase the waterline length at heel and
her displacement was reduced. The owner
describes the result as “very responsive
steering; sports-car-like acceleration”, but
she’s just as impressive standing still: “wide
transom, plumb bow and low freeboard
give an incredible ramp presence”.
