In the sheds: Spirit 111

What’s the buzz?As well as being the

largest single-masted wooden yacht

to be built since Shamrock Vin the

1930s, when she is launched in 2019

the 33.9m Spirit 111 will also be

eco-friendly. Thanks to four 30.3kW

lithium battery banks and energy-saving technology, the owner will be

able to spend extended periods of time on board using minimal fuel.

What’s the buzz?Hot on the heels of the first

32.27m SW105Satisfaction, two more are due for

delivery in June and December 2018. 105#2 is a

thoroughbred racer for a serial Southern Wind

owner and will have a full carbon hull, deck and

bulkheads, while 105#3 is an upgrade for a keen

sailor searching for comfortable world cruising.

What’s the buzz?As well as the modern

gulet NB85, planned for a 2019 delivery,

Mengi-Yay is working on a 40m custom

motor sailer with Ginton Naval

Architects and Guido de Groot, scheduled for launch this year.

Her three retractable bathing platforms, which combine to form

an unexpectedly large beach club, will also help disabled guests.
