DESIGN REPORT
Armani/Casa
Notable among Armani/Casa’s Salone
presentation is its beautiful new Net
side table. A testament to the precise
craftsmanship that goes into all of its
furniture collections, the table is formed by
combining glossy transparent methacrylate
cubes with solid Canaletto walnut cubes for
a chequerboard effect. As well as its striking
good looks, the table can act practically
as a board for keen chess players.

Scarlet Splendour
The Kolkata-based brand, founded by siblings Ashish Bajoria and
Suman Kanodia, is known for its opulent and eclectic furniture,
lighting and accessories collections, inspired by different cultures.
Showing at Salone for the first time, Scarlet Splendour will present
its newest collaborations: with Matteo Cibic, on a range inspired
by the ancient Indian technique of bone and horn inlay (left); with
Nika Zupanc, who uses a palette of pastels and metallics (below),
as well as the likes of diamantine tabletops; and with London-
based Artefatto Design Studio, whose Snow White collection
is intended to blur the boundaries between art and design and
features pieces such as fine sheepskin-covered chairs with
golden frames. scarletsplendour.com
Tai P i n g
Luxury carpet and flooring manufacturer Tai
Ping will be presenting its recent Reverence
collection from Edward Fields for House
of Tai Ping. Created in collaboration with
Brooklyn-based artist and furniture designer
Fernando Mastrangelo, the range of rugs and
carpets (above, and on the opening page) is
inspired by the contours of landscapes, from
the travertine terraces in Yellowstone
National Park to the salt flats of Utah. Using a
mixture of materials, from blended silk to
wool yarns, there is contrast in the texture
and depth, and a beautiful ombre effect in a
neutral colour palette. houseoftaiping.com
Donghia
Following on from the popular Curve Sofa that was launched in 2017,
Donghia will launch the Curve Chair (above left), a soft, sculptural
and extremely comfortable piece suited to both traditional and
contemporary settings. The popular Anziano chair (above right),
designed by John Hutton in 1989, will be joined by a bar and
counter-height Anziano stool, with the same bent wood Klismos
silhouette and architectural base that allows for stacking. donghia.com
