Port Stephens played host to the second AGB,
dubbed the ‘War On Water’. Kiwi upstarts
Stabicraft fl ew in to take the alloy gong in the
2150 Supercab, scoring 82/100. Trade-a-Boat
Editor Jeff Strang was particularly impressed,
saying its ride was: “quite frankly, a sportscar
on water.” The Stabi 2150 was recently replaced
by the 2100 Supercab, a radically different boat
with the same renowned Positive Buoyancy and
Life Ring Pontoon design; and a boat unlucky
not to make it to a subsequent AGB. We saw the
winning boat for sale in NSW mid-2015 and it still
looked sharp in fi retruck red but now sporting a
Mercury outboard.
Evolution had its 552 Platinum turn to gold in
2011, taking top spot in a tough fi eld of Aussie
boats of similar sizes. What stood out most about
the 552 was the ... well, Kevin Smith summed it
up: “Small boat with big balls.” There was more,
though. The judges rated the 552 at 88/100,
including straight 10s for Fishing Suitability,
Ergonomics and X-Factor.
