BETTA BATTERIES

Betta Lead Crystal® Batteries,

distributed in New Zealand by Lusty &

Blundell, are set to make boating more

reliable, safer and less expensive.

Developed by Betta Batteries, they

feature breakthrough technology with

none of the disadvantages of lead-acid,

gel or AGM batteries.

Lead Crystal® batteries are robust with

a service life of up to 18 years (or 6000

cycles at 20% Depth of Discharge).

They can also be deeply or even

completely discharged without damage

and quickly recharged to 100% capacity

safely, meaning owners can install

smaller battery banks.

Lead Crystal batteries can also be stored

for up to two years without top-up

charging, offer similar performance to

lithium batteries at just a third of the

cost, are cleaner and safer than lead-

acid batteries (with less acid,

no cadmium and no antimony) and

up to 99% recyclable.

Classified as non-hazardous for air,

sea and land travel, they are also easier

to transport, and they do not require

special ventilation or cooling, meaning

they can be positioned anywhere.

Betta Lead Crystal batteries are suitable

for RVs, solar energy storage systems,

electric vehicles, industrial equipment

and Uninterruptible Power Supplies as

well as marine applications.

Mercury Marine has introduced new,

ultra-lightweight 15 and 20hp EFI four-

stroke outboards to its stable.

They are available with Mercury’s new

Multi-Function Tiller Handle, offering

true ambidextrous operation.

Mercury’s outboard platform features

battery-free EFI for fast, reliable starting,

instant throttle response and better

overall performance. Light weight

improves acceleration, top speed

and handling and the engines deliver

exceptional fuel economy.

At just 45kg, the new platform is 13

percent lighter than the one it replaces,

and similar in weight to Mercury’s two-

stroke outboard line-up.

The new 15 EFI FourStroke outboard is

also available in ProKicker models and

SeaPro commercial models.

Mercury’s Multi-Function Tiller Handle

is centre-mounted and adjustable

horizontally – up to 18° to either port

or starboard. The throttle grip rotation

is reversible and so can be used right

or left-handed. The tiller handle is also

adjustable vertically, to provide the

most comfortable operational height,

while a tilt lock feature locks the tiller

out of the way for fishing and trailering.

CHIRP, the new ECHOMAP Plus

features powerful sonar capabilities,

preloaded BlueChart g2 HD charts

and mapping, and built-in WiFi®

for connected boating via the new

Garmin ActiveCaptain marine app.

The Plus series features a bright,

sunlight-readable 4-, 6-, 7- or 9-inch

display. The 6-inch units are brighter

and easier to read than previous

5-inch models. The ECHOMAP

Plus series also offers a new keyed-

assist touchscreen on the 7-

and 9-inch units.

Garmin ActiveCaptain mobile app

connects a compatible mobile device

to access, update or purchase maps/

charts, access Quickdraw

Community data and reference the

ActiveCaptain community.

ActiveCaptain provides smart

notifications, over-the-air software

updates and off-vessel planning.

ECHOMAP Plus offers built-in CHIRP

traditional sonar and CHIRP ClearVü

and SideVü scanning sonar. All 7- and

9-inch Plus units support Garmin

Panoptix sonar transducers, so anglers

can see real-time sonar imagery at

video-like speed. A free software

update will enable these units to share

user and sonar data between devices.

and B&G, has expanded the range of

reporting and connectivity options

offered by its Track telemetry system,

with the all-new Track HD.

Track provides instant access to vessel

location and status via a mobile app

and online dashboard. With Track HD

users can also take remote control of

lights, pumps, HVAC or other systems.

Track HD enables cloud storage for

key vessel documents, and TripReplay

to capture and share previous trips.

Connectivity options include WiFi and

cellular, with satellite coming soon.
