HISTORY POSTMISTRESS COVER
A scarce cover signed by Doris Gray, The
Postmistress of Haroldswick Post Office. A
special Royal Mail Commemorative Stamp
was produced in 1997 for Haroldswick P.O,
the most northernly post office in Britain,
specially postmarked by the Royal Mail
at Unst. Shetland Island. Only 200 of this
scarce cover were postmarked and signed
by the Postmistress nearly two decades

phosphor band on side. We told our customers to buy them at 25p each. WE WERE
RIGHT! If you had taken our advice, for an outlay of only £150 in 1973, the current

In 1999 we recommended our customers to buy the Princess Diana Welsh
Language Presentation Packs. The catalogue value was only £2.50 each, but we
were telling our customers to buy them for up to double catalogue value £5 each.
Within only 6 years they had increased by 3,900%.
As everyone knows, investments can go down as well as up and the past is not
necessarily a guide to the future. However, being selective and taking sound advice
is the best way to make your hobby pay for itself.

(SG 2380) which was catalogued by Stanley Gibbons at £1.50 per stamp.
Within 1 year the catalogue value has increased to £50 per stamp, an increase

commemorate the Centenary of the first Victoria
Cross to be awarded in World War I. The cover
with illustration of Lieut. Maurice Dease VC. who
died aged 24 in the first battle fought by the
British against the Germans at Mons on 4. 23
Aug 1914. The cover bears a special Royal Mail
VC stamp and postmarked with official Victoria
Cross “For Valour” postmark on 23 Aug 14. The
cover was restricted issue of only 100 covers
and is vital to complete any WWI collection .......

Anniversary of the Election of Harold Wilson
as Prime Minister. The cover is illustrated
with the iconic “Labour will get things done”
poster and bears Royal Mail, Wilson stamps
with official first day post mark and famous
Harold Wilson quote: “The main essentials
of a successful prime minister are sleep and
a sense of history.” Only fifty of this cover
are known to exist, reposted on 16/10/14
with official Royal Mail “Big Ben” postmark

GB 32EP GREAT BRITAIN ACID RAIN
ERROR STAMP A super GB stamp error has
recently come to light. The error a “must” for
any complete GB collection shows a “full stop”
at the base of the 24p denomination. As it is a
constant error only one such stamp appears
in each sheet of 100 stamps. So, it is 99 times
scarcer than the normal stamp (SG 1629) Many
serious GB stamp collectors are now realising
that their collections are incomplete without
this important value denomination variety. We

KITCHENER POSTAL HISTORY
COVER A special cover for the centenary
of the Gibraltar Garrison, The Staffordshire
Brigade served under Kitchener in the 2nd
Sudanese War, then continued during World
War I at the Garrison in Gibraltar. This scarce
postal history cover bears a British WWI
commemorative stamp with Lord Kitchener
“Your Country Needs You” illustrated Royal
Mail postmark. Unusually, the cover also bears
a Gibraltar Garrison Centenary cachet in red.
Only 100 covers were ever issued and many in
