esco has created the

best budget tablet

around in the fun and

friendly shape of the

Hudl 2. At £129 the price is

astonishing, especially as

the device is sturdily built

and looks so good. It has an

8in screen, sitting sweetly

between the ‘full sized’ 10in

tablets and the sometimes

too small 7in displays. It

also matches the excellent

resolution of the Nexus 7 – so

where are the compromises?

Well, it isn’t the thinnest or

lightest tablet and the battery

life is poor compared to its

rivals. But that’s about it.
