apply stamps to documents
to show stamp duty
payments in 2015.Above: the only Revenue
stamp issued by the Japanese
was a tobacco tax stamp.
This 2 sen tobacco stamp is
cancelled by the Australian
Army P.O. 513 based
in Labuan just after the
Japanese surrender. It
is probably cancelled to
order as a souvenir for a
POW who were taken to
the island of Labuan for a
recovery period.The 1918 Revenue stamps are known overprinted ‘CUSTOMS’ said to pay
the tax on the import of firearms in 1934/5. These stamps show that the
Duty could be paid at the GPO.Stamp showcase

During the Japanese Occupation during the Second World War revenue
stamps of the Rajah continued to be used but with his head covered with
a Japanese chop. This receipt was issued in 1945 just before the Japanese
surrender. The local bank name is deleted as it had been taken over by a
