This beautiful Alfred Mylne designed Fife yard built cutter is
pedigree indeed. At 54 ft with a Marconi rig to the original plans,
she also has enough accommodation to cruise in comfort. IRINA
VII seems to hit a sweet spot among vintage yachts; striking

  • indeed memorable whether seen under sail or alongside
showing her characteristic Mylne forward sloping doghouse set
in wide uncluttered decks. Both cruising and racing she is a yacht
    for the connoisseur most certainly.

UNDINA is a superb example of a centre board hull with a 5½ ft
draft increasing to 8½ ft lowered. All owners have declared her
to be very fast, comfortable and seaworthy - achieving TV fame
in Griff Rhys Jones’s ownership. With elegant sheer and well-
balanced coach and deckhouse, her large cockpit is typical of
American fifties yachts. The rig and sail plan is well proportioned
and simple for both single handed cruising and efficient racing -
she is CIM specified for the Med classic regatta circuit and since
2014 an extensive refit has made her totally ready for the new
season.

Robert Clark is on a shortlist of English naval architects who
while not perhaps as iconic as Fife or Nicholson, nevertheless
designed boats that were fast, beautiful to behold and winning

  • creating the likes of ORTAC, ERIVALE, LARA, JOCASTA and
CAPRICE OF HUON – all of them race winners under the Rules.
CORABIA was part of the Dutch Admiral’s Cup Team in 1957,
‘61 and ’63. She embodies Clark’s thinking with her generous
overhangs and turn of speed. This boat has benefitted from the
care afforded by her current owner – and with her steel hull is a
dependable classic cruiser as much as a winner of races.

Ashley Butler’s designs are inspired by the ergonomics, form
and function of the historic working craft of the British Isles.
Even on the most basic consideration of size, this hull form has
already proven ideal for family cruising – perhaps defining the
term Modern Classic with her carvel planking, long keel and
effortless charm. BONAVENTURE was commissioned by a
family who knew what they wanted and she is comfortably fitted
out to optimise space below – a significant price reduction makes
BONAVENTURE a very appealing option.

Among the designs of Fairlie built yachts by William Fife III
himself, were a handful by some competing designers such as
GL Watson, Alfred Mylne and OM Watts - the latter responsible
for PEREGRINE. The virtues of his design – and the build are
more than well expressed in the “Yachting Monthly” review
of 1937 - suffice to say now that she has retained her original
qualities in spades some 80 years on as a sea kindly cruising
yacht for the benefit and pleasure of any future owner.
