It’s perhaps fair to say that Delhi
and the surrounding districts,
such as Gurgaon, also have more
physical scope for development
in terms of space and a huge
number of artistic opportunities
are being realised. In that sense,
it’s a particularly vibrant and
exciting city in which to operate,
and a reason why the fair itself
has evolved the way it has,
growing organically and reaching
out to bigger and more diverse
audiences, while the main tenets
remain the same – namely, access
and education. For instance,
while the majority of the space is
taken up by commercial galleries
every year we have spaces for non-
profit art projects and educational
aspects such as the Speakers'
Forum, curated walks and a book
store. We have also worked hard
to build a younger collector base
for Indian art.
What keeps me driven is the
fair’s constant ability to generate
new opportunity, and growing
and developing the market at
every level. Year on year, the
partnerships that are established
and the connections that are made
at the fair lead to such a wealth
of experience that it becomes a
constantly reinvigorating process.
Moving forward, we want to
firmly establish the fair as a key
reference point for the South
Asian market, and want to bring
the best that South Asian art has
to offer, for art enthusiasts and
the wider public the world over.
