How have art fairs changed the
market?
Kiran Nadar: There is only one
fair – India Art Fair – and it is a
good platform. Lot of great efforts
have been put to change the art
market and I find it difficult to say
that it needs to build up further.
We need to get more foreign
galleries to participate. Foreign art
is probably difficult to sell as there
are tax issues, difficult procedures
and they do not receive much for
participating. The quality of work
needs to improve at the fair and
good thing is that Indian galleries
are participating and active.
Jai Danani: I think Art Fairs are an
extremely healthy vehicle to instill
passion in new and old collectors
as it strives to bring a ‘best of ’
atmosphere into the market.
Collectors of every phase in their
collection can come and learn
and see what is happening at the
market holistically.
