ADD A BLUE COLOUR
To give your image a
speedy retro treatment, irst
click the Create Adjustment
Layer icon in the Layers Panel
and choose Solid Color, then
choose a bright blue tone.
You can experiment with
diferent tones of blue once
the efect is complete.

SET BLEND MODE
EXCLUSION
Go to the Blend Mode
dropdown at the top of the
Layers Panel and choose
Exclusion. This maps blue
tones onto the shadows,
creating a retro colour cast.
Yellow, the opposite to blue
on a color wheel, is mapped
onto the highlights.

DROP THE OPACITY
Drop the layer opacity
in the Layers Panel to around
20%. Did you know you
can press 2 for 20% layer
opacity...? As long as your
currently selected tool
doesn’t have its own opacity
setting, in which case you
can use number shortcuts to
quickly alter tool opacity.
