SHADOW


MOD’ TRICK
You can modify drop
shadow layer eects to
create a down-and-dirty
shadow for any object...

CREATE
LAYERS
Right-click the layer style
in the Layers Panel (the bit
that says ‘Efects’) and then
choose Create Layer. Now
the shadow sits on its own
layer, separate from the layer
we initially applied the style
on. Highlight the new layer.
Press Cmd/Ctrl+T to activate
the transform box, then get
to work...

TRANSFORM
THE SHADOW
You can play with the
transform box to get your
shadow. Right-click while
transforming to choose
diferent skew options, or
hold Cmd/Ctrl and drag the
control points. Move the top
middle control point to skew
the shadow. Position it to
look as if on the ground. Fill
the shape with grey.

ADD A DROP
SHADOW
We used a robot for this
image, which we found on
the Creative Cloud Market
under Free Assets. (Open
Creative Cloud and select
Assets>Market.) Drop the ile
into a document. Double-click
the layer to access the Layer
Styles box, then click Drop
Shadow. Use the settings
to apply a shadow.
