While zoomed in to part of an image, hold down H then
click and hold the mouse button down to swoop out to
full screen – a bird’s eye view – then move over another area and
release to zoom back in.
THE ‘BIRD’S EYE VIEW’ TRICK
You can view a single image in two separate windows to
check your edits at two zoom factors simultaneously. First
go to Window>Arrange>New Window for [ilename], then go to
Window>Arrange>2 Up Vertical (or Horizontal if you prefer).

TOP TIPS
REDUCE THE
PSD SIZE
If you need to reduce
a PSD ile size,
perhaps because you
want to send it to
someone, then hiding
all the layers before
saving the ile can
knock up to 15% of
the megabyte count.
INTERACTIVE
STYLES
Several Layer Styles
like drop shadows
and gradient overlays
are interactive –
you can drag within
the image to move
the efect around
while applying it.
PASTE
IN PLACE
When you copy and
paste a selection
from one image to
another with Cmd/
Ctrl+V, it just gets
plonked in the middle
of the screen; but if
you press Shift+Alt
+Cmd/Ctrl+V instead,
Photoshop pastes
the area in exactly
the same position as
the other image.
