IMPORT UPDATE


Surprise changes to Lightroom’s Import
system in the 6.2 update trigger a wave
of criticism from regular users

Often met with
confusion by those
unfamiliar with the Lightroom
worklow, the Import dialog
box has been refreshed and
updated to make it easier to
use – at least, that was Adobe’s
intention with the release of
Lightroom 6.2 (or CC 2015.2).
However, the newly pared-
down Import dialog caused
immediate and repeated
crashing for many users.
The online backlash
prompted Tom Hogarty,
Adobe’s director of product
management for photography,
to issue an apology: “I’d like to
personally apologize for the
quality of the Lightroom 6.
release we shipped. The team
cares passionately about our
product and our customers,
and we failed on multiple
fronts with this release.”

New Import dialog
However, the frustration didn’t
end there. The new Import
dialog’s simpliied, structure

NEW: ADOBE CAPTURE CC
Adobe have announced Capture CC, a
new app for iOS and Android. Capture
CC essentially brings together several of
Adobe’s existing mobile apps – Shape, Colour,
Brush and Hue – under one roof, making it
easier to use them in combination with your
desktop worklow. If you’ve yet to try the apps
individually, this is a good opportunity to give
them all a go at once. The app is free.
