Manfrotto Corp. has announced an
enhanced version of its mini Pixi
series tripod—the Pixi Evo. The
improved model can accomodate
weight up to 2.5kg and its legs can
widen up to 80°. Taking pictures from
the ground level as low as 10.5 cm
becomes possible. The incorporation
of Aluminium on its upper part and
Polymer ensures that the tripod is
lightweight and steady. The tripod
weighs 250g and its length is
distance as low as 10.5cm from
the ground level becomes
possible. In the earlier
model, taking
pictures from
a vertical level
was not possible.
The Pixi Evo

Canon announces 4K
broadcast lens
C
anon revealed a 4K zoom for
professional broadcast cameras—
the CJ20ex7.8b—which offers
a 20x zoom ratio and focal length
up to 156mm. A prototype was �irst
showcased at IBC 2015 in Amsterdam.
This lens will be an add-on to Canon’s
CJ12ex4.3B—a 2/3’’ portable 4K
zoom with the widest focal length. The
company’s new lens is apt for sporting
events, news coverage, documentaries,
indoor and outdoor shooting etc.
The new lens features a built-in
2x extender, which delivers an
optimal optical performance even
when photographing at the 312mm
telephoto-end focal length. Keeping
the needs of the broadcast industry
in check, the lens is complete with a
compact and lightweight body design.
The tripod is available in red, black
and white at 5,700 yen.
Sony has unveiled the α68 which
features a 4D focus system. It uses no
less than 79 autofocus detection points
including 15 cross points along with an
f/2.8 AF sensor point for low-lit scenes.
The camera is mounted with a 24MP
APS-C Exmor CMOS image sensor with
an ISO range of up to 25600. The sensor
is coupled with the BIONZ X image
processor that uses various technologies
like detail reproduction, area-speci�ic
noise reduction etc. The camera also
features an OLED Tru-Finder, helping
in proper composing of movies or stills.
The α68 also incorporates a 2.7-inch
Type LCD monitor that tilts up to
135° upwards or 55° downwards. The
backlit top display of the camera helps
photographers con�irm their camera
settings while photographing hand-held
or on a tripod. The camera will be made
available for purchase from March 2016
for nearly €600 body only or €700 with
DT18-55mm F3.5-5.6 SAM II lens.
