Sacred Lamp of the Day

planning to purchase
a full-frame body next
month. I use a Nikkor
18-105mm f/3.5-5.6,
Tamron 10-24 f/3.5,
Nikkor 70-300VR and
a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8. I
also use Hoya Circular
Polarizer, Hitech
Graduated ND filters,
and rotating ND filter.
I generally keep two
tripods during tour, one
is Vanguard Alta Pro
263AT at with TBH 100
ball head and other
one is Vanguard Alta
233AP with pan head. I
also keep a head torch,
remote, extra batteries,
good quality microfibre
cloths for cleaning the
lenses, good quality
blower, a knife and
raincoat.

Most of your images
have been shot near
water bodies and in
inclement weather.
What special care
do you take before,
during and after a
shoot, in keeping
your equipment in
perfect condition?
I come from a region
where we get abundant
rainfall almost every
year. All the time I have
to prepare myself for
the monsoons. Most
of the time I go to
Sonebeel and Chatla —
two famous wetlands
— for taking pictures.
Before and during a
photo shoot, I have to
take extra care of my
equipment. I always
keep a big towel, a
few big plastic bags to
protect my gears from
rain and also to shoot
in light drizzle. After
returning from the
shoot, I dry my gears
with an electric hair
drier and a 100 Watt
bulb. While shooting

equipment well, and now I know how
I can get the best out of a particular
equipment. But everything has its limits.
After a point, one has to upgrade his
gears. I am a photographer who never


cries for equipment. I believe I have
to work with what is available with
me and what I can afford. In my kit, I
have a Nikon D90 and a very recently
purchased Nikon D7000 body. I am
