Artists Back to Basics - Issue 6 Volume 3 2016

(Kiana) #1

I think it’s about time I started
again after a spell of just over 12
months! My real job as a Vet had
become very time consuming.
Good music and good wine
are important. A good painting
pal is optional (you don’t want
one that talks too much).
Don’t be afraid of useful criticism.
However, as art is subjective,
don’t rely too heavily on what
other people think. Some of my
earlier works that drew critical

comments from fellow artists were
among the ones that sold first.
It is very worthwhile to keep a
folder of reference material as you
come across things. Sometimes
things which don’t inspire you right
away can become a major source
of excitement and inspiration later.
As an artist, my ultimate goal is
to paint something that I really like;
something I would be proud to
have hanging on my own wall. ■
