With a very soft, ordinary graphite pencil, I dra w the

broad outlines of the subject.

Using a lot of water, I place the first strokes of colour

using Deep Yellow.

To prepare the Fo re x fo r pa inting, I apply three coats of

gesso acrylic primer, allowing it to dry in between.

The first coat is diluted 50% primer to 50% water, the

second 85% primer to 15% water; the third is not diluted.
