B

ill Gates is no longer the richest man in the world. But he’s still
close to the top of the Forbes list of billionaires. And the former
Microsoft boss believes in giving away as much money as possible.
Gates and his wife, Melinda, have a charitythat helps people in
developing countries. Gates told a New York conference that gov-
ernments and businesses alone cannot solve the world’s problems.
Gates feels that’s why organizations like the Bill & Melinda Gates
Foundationare important. “Philanthropy should be taking bigger
risks than business,” he says.
