MARRAKECH BIENNALE / IN CONVERSATION WITH MOHAMED AMINE KABBAJ AND REEM FADDA 1/9

The Marrakech Biennale is a not-for-profit association which seeks to
promote artistic and cultural crossroads between Africa, the Middle-East and
the Mediterranean. Founded in 2004, the biennale encourages contact and
dialogue between artists and audiences, using the urban historical landscape to
welcome a wider public through artist talks, performances and symposia. 2016
marks the sixth edition, which runs from the 24th February to the 8th May.

ART AFRICA sat down with the biennale President, Mohamed Amine
Kabbaj, as well as the biennale curator, Reem Fadda, to discuss the
significance of the present moment in geographic, artistic and social terms;
the functioning of market values in a not-for-profit association and what the
future means for an event that has aims to strengthen cultural ties between the
West and the East.
