Micro_Mart_-_January_7_2016_

(Barry) #1
Like manyotherpeople
aroundthe world,I’ve so far
resistedthe urgeto takeup
Microsofton its free Windows
10 offer. Instead,I’ve been
stickingwithWindows7, at
leaston the computerI use the
most.I haveactuallyinstalled
it on my Macbookin Boot
Camp,becauseI hardlyever
use Windowson it.
I also havea slightlybroken
mediacentrePC kickingabout
that I mightupgrade(if I can
get it working),but that’s only
becauseit currentlyhas
Windows8 on it. To be fair, it
did showa performance
improvement,comparedto
Windows7, but I just couldn’t
standthe tiledinterfaceat all.
Of course,Windows10 is a
far moresensibleOS than8, so
what’s stoppingme from
embracingit? Put simply, bugs.
I knowI’m goingto upgrade
eventually, but I’d ratherwait
untilas manyproblemshave
beenidentifiedand
eliminatedas soonas possible.
And havingheardaboutsome
of the difficultiespeoplehave
beenhavingwiththis new
software,I havea suspicion
I’m goingto end up havingto
do a freshinstallationrather
thanan upgrade.
And that,as I’m sure you’ll
agree,is a job alwaysbest left
for anotherday...
