that, stealth never goes astray. Learning to brace
your body to control shake with a long lens is a
must as well.
I like to keep my aperture to around f4 to f5 for
a nice, blurry background, and make the subject
really pop. For landscapes I use a 11-16mm wide
angle lens with a hood and a polarised ilter to cut
glare and keep blue skies and green leaves, and,
of course, a tripod. The rule of thirds is a great
starting point for landscape photography, and if you
follow this, you will almost always get a pleasing
photograph.
As I’ve become older and learnt diferent
techniques, I’ve expanded my subject matter
into night photography, lightning photography
and HDR photography. For me, taking photos is
peaceful. Especially when it’s birds. I love capturing

the diferent types we have here in Australia and
showing people something that they might not be
able to see on a regular basis. When I take animal or
bird pics or macro photos of bees, my world zeros
down to just that one thing, and all I am focused on
is that creature, on that moment. As for landscape
and shed projects, it’s about seeing something
beautiful and capturing a memory or a moment in
history. I want people to fall in love with the things
that are rare and forgotten.
