VIEW ERIK OLSON:
I spent the last
year painting at
the Kunstakademie
Düsseldorf as
a guest student.
I made small portraits of
painters I was close with and
exhibited 24 of these at
BravinLee Programs in New
York last fall. This exhibition
continues work where I’ve
expanded the small portraits
into large experiments in
colour, scale and image-making.
The variations in my approach
with each portrait drew from
the sitter’s own artwork, their
personalities and of course my
subjective relationship to both.
Erik Olson is an artist based in Düsseldorf,
Germany. His solo exhibition at Barbara
Edwards Contemporary is on view through
to Apr. 16, 1114 11 St. SW, Calgary, AB.

among others. On view through May 29.
