favourite project of mine is stillKoji
(nowPrimero). The owner was young and
adventurous and open to us experimenting
withinnovativematerialstocreatesomething
really unique.
HiscollectionofBentleycars,allinblack
andred,providedsomeinspiration.Hewanteda
stronger,masculineinteriorstyleratherthanwhat
he considered to be a “safe look ”.
The best example of this is in the master cabin
whereweusedredandblack,withtouchesofgrey
andtaupe,tosmoothoutthecontrastingtonesandgivesomeharmonytotheatmosphere.
Thefloorisacustom-madeeelleather.Theverythineelleatherpanelscamefrom
VietnambutwerebackedwithaspecialmaterialbyourcraftsmaninItalytogivestrength
to the leather, making it suitable for underfoot.
Theheadboardisafocalpointinthestateroom.Iwantedsomethingthatwasapiece
ofartinitself.ThefeltsculpturewasdesignedbyLuxuryProjectsbutcreatedbymyfriendDianneSchepers,of
PureFelt.Thecustom-madebedsidelamps,withtheirbrushedsteelbaseandred
resinshade,actlikeprojectors,givingtheheadboardathree-dimensionaleffect.
Weusedalotofglosssurfaces,inspiredbytheBentleyblackgloss,butIwanted
tocontrastthiswithsoftertextures.Thebedsidecabinetsandchestofdrawerswere
frontedwithacustomgreylasercutleatherbyFoglizzo,thesofawasupholsteredin
arichlytexturedfabricfromJRobertScott,andonthebedweusedaunique100per
centcashmerebedspreadbyKohro,whichiswovenindoubleheight.
Intheensuitebathroom,weexperimentedforthefirsttimewithcocciopesto,an
ancienttechniqueusedbytheRomansforthefloorsinnoblehousesandthermal
baths.WorkingwithTarsieVivendi,wecreatedabeautifullightgreysinktop,walls
and floor, inlaid with red and black accents that matched the whole décor scheme of
