The new London Boat Show

promises to pack a punch

Yachts, motorboats, RIBS and dinghies PLUS

legends from the world of sailing and adventure

T

he newly formatted London
Boat Show will be a
celebration of everything you
can do on the water.
Running for five days from
Wednesday 10th to Sunday 14th January
at ExCeL in London, it will include more
than 300 exhibitors.
New this year will be the Practical Boat
Owner Theatre (stand LB012), which will
be conducted from the deck of a fully
rigged Westerly Centaur.
Sailing personalities and equipment
experts will be presenting illustrated talks
throughout the five days, targeted at
practical cruising sailors of all levels.
Confirmed speakers include the pilot
book author, Rod Heikell, and Stokey
Woodall, the renowned celestial navigator.
Both will be there to pass on tips on getting
the most enjoyment from ocean voyaging.

PBO columnists Sam Llewellyn and Stuart
Davies, along with budget boating guru
David Selby and PBO editor Rob Melotti,
will also be on stage. The theatre is
opposite the Time Inc stand LC014, where
you’ll find the latest PBO subscription deals
as well exclusive show prizes.
In addition, there will be talks at the new
Legends Theatre. Conrad Humphreys, the
professional yachtsman who led the
recreation of Captain Bligh’s epic
4,000-mile voyage as ‘Mutiny’ skipper for
Channel 4, will be sharing his experiences
of sailing in the Pacific. And Zeb Soanes,
the BBC Radio 4 newsreader, who is best
known as the voice of the Shipping
Forecast, will be discussing what it is like
to share this vital information with sailors.
The Ocean Brothers – Jude Massey and
Dr Greg Bailey – will also be speaking to
show visitors direct from their boat as they
undertake their row across the Atlantic,
unsupported, from Gran Canaria to
Barbados to raise funds in memory of
their father and stepfather.
Boats will still be at the centre of the
show and Jeanneau has confirmed the
debut of its Sun Odyssey 440. Beneteau,
Churchouse Boats, Cornish Crabbers,
Hobie Cat, English Harbour Yachts and
Nestaway Boats will also be exhibiting,
along with the likes of Sunseeker, Princess
Yachts, Prestige, Fairline and Ribeye.

Running alongside the main show will
be the Boating & Watersports Holiday
Show and Bespoke London. The new
Lock & Waterside Pub will celebrate the
UK’s inland waterways and the Broads in
Norfolk, with displays of narrowboats,
while the Beach Club & Activity Pool will
provide the chance to learn about dinghy
sailing, kayaking and paddleboarding.
Sail Scotland, Cosmos Sailing and
Sunseeker will be among the exhibitors at
the holiday show. As usual, there will be
plenty of chances to socialise at the Black
& White and the all-new Yachtsman’s bars.
There will be late night opening on
Thursday 11 January.

The show will open daily from 10am
to 6pm, from Wednesday 10
January to Sunday 14 January, with
late night opening until 8pm on
Thursday, 11 January.
