THE WORLD’S LARGEST INDOOR SHOW WILL BE THE PLACE

TO VISIT AND SEE MANY OF 2018’S BIGGEST, MOST EXCITING

NEW LAUNCHES. WE PICK OUT SOME HEADLINE MODELS TO

LOOK OUT FOR AT DÜSSELDORF BOAT SHOW IN JANUARY

ust one year after launching
what was its largest yacht at the
time, Bavaria will return to the
Düsseldorf boat show this January with
three more brand new models. To
develop three yachts between 45ft and
65ft simultaneously, including by far the
largest one this yard has built to date, is
quite a statement.
It is a similarly bold move to its
German rival Hanse, which also launched
a string of new models over the last year.
When the world’s largest production
boatbuilders invest so much in new
models, it sends a positive message about
how they view the future yacht market.
All three new Bavarias share looks and
features more common to larger yachts.
They all include a tender garage (even
the C45), twin cockpit tables and a
wetbar/grill option on deck. They are
designed to be easy to manage, so have
self-tacking jibs and sailing systems
brought right aft to two winches beside
the twin wheels.
The digital switching system Bavaria
developed with B&G and Naviop for the

C57 comes as standard again to allow
electrical equipment to be monitored or
controlled using a touchscreen panel.
And the new models are all built using
Bavaria’s new vacuum infusion system,
which the company says results in 80 per
cent fewer emissions and a 20 per cent
lighter boat.

The C65
The C65 takes its style lead from the C57,
but here the extra length produces more
elegant proportions. It has a sporty look,
set off by a long waterline length and a
slight reverse sheer. Construction
upgrades introduced for Bavaria’s new
flagship include a stainless steel keel grid
to take the rig and keel loads and a hull
reinforced with carbon fibre.
Once again we see a very wide stern,
designed to create room for a huge
bathing platform and a tender garage to
house a jet RIB. With sailing systems led
back to just two winches each side of the
helms, however, it will be interesting to
see how practical it will be to manage all

that running rigging in the aft quarters.
The coachroof has a strip of hatches
running down the centre and each side,
which should help make it very light down
below. Either three or four cabins are
offered, together with an option for a
forepeak crew cabin and a walk-in
wardrobe for the owner’s cabin.
