COMPETITION CATEGORIES

Category A. Our Historic Vessels

This category is for photographs which exemplify the role

played by historic vessels. The vessel must be on one of

NHS-UK’s registers. It could be sailing, motoring, be part of a

museum display or at an event or festival.

Prize: GoPro Hero6 camera awarded by Winter & Co.

Category B. Skills in Action

This category is for the best image capturing the skills

involved with operating or maintaining a historic vessel.

Prize: £300 worth of tools or equipment, from Arthur Beale.

Category C. Wish You Were Here

A fun category aimed at sharing those moments captured

on a mobile device or small camera. It could be a selfi e or

an action shot, but it must show a passion for the sea or

maritime heritage. Prize: Four tickets to step on board the

historic vessel Waverley, the world’s last seagoing paddle

steamer, awarded by Waverley Excursions Ltd.

Category D. A True Classic

A category judged by Classic Boat magazine as the fi nest

examples of traditional craft, photographed in a setting that

highlights their unique characteristics. Prize: Two-year

subscription to Classic Boat plus your photograph published

in the magazine.

Category E. Faces of the Sea

This category is for maritime portraits and photographs of

people ashore or afl oat which capture their passion for and

connection with the sea. Prize: £300 – towards wet weather

gear, awarded by Robbins Timber.

Maritime Heritage

People’s Choice Award

For the fi rst time we’re asking you to choose! Our sponsor

AxisTwelve will choose 12 photographs from the above

categories that capture our maritime heritage at its best.

We will then ask the public to vote for your favourite image.

Prize: An Apple iPad Air Pro, awarded by AxisTwelve.

OVERALL WINNER

National Historic Ships UK

Photographer 2018

One entrant will be chosen as overall winner from

categories A-E and the winning photograph will

be included in National Historic Ships UK’s

promotional material.

Overall prize: A monetary prize of £1,000 to be awarded to

a theme or activity involving an historic vessel on the

National Register of Historic Vessels.

THE JUDGES Competition Rules and Guidelines

How to enter: The competition opens on Sunday, 1 April 2018

and all entries must be received by the closing deadline of

midnight on Friday, 31 August 2018. To enter your submission in

any of the competition categories, you will need to complete an

online entry form and upload your image(s) to National Historic

Ships UK’s competition web-page, available at:

nationalhistoricships.org.uk.

Entrants can submit up to two images per category.
