HE emergence of energy efficient technology
is going to be the main driver for the future
market growth of the Air Conditioner market
with the advent of smart buildings, smart of-
fices and smart homes. That is the reason technology
companies are looking for products which are energy ef-
ficient and are in sync with the concept of smart living.
Given the requirement,
the global air conditioner
companies are also moving
towards creating products
which are backed by smart
technology and which fit
the green ecosystem.
“These days technology
companies are very sensi-
tive to the growing demand
of green technologies. With
evolving technology, what
we are selling today are bet-
ter products,” Aman Chou-
han, Managing Director,
Mitsubishi Heavy Indus-
tries Air Conditioners said.
Mitsubishi Electric India
Pvt Ltd, part of Tokyo-
based Mitsubishi Electric
Corporation, aims to grow
at nearly 50 per cent a year.
The company, set up in
September 2010, has ex-
panded its network across
20 cities.
“As the concept of smart
cities has arrived more and

more offices home and other commercial spaces are de-
manding cooling system which consumes less energy
and is not harmful for the environment. Naturally there
is a remarkable shift in the demand of energy efficient
AC,” Chouhan added.
Global commercial AC market 2016-2020 research
report says emergence of smart technology will be a key
trend for market growth with
the advent of smart buildings
and smart cities.
Smart cooling technology is
capable of communicating
with individual buildings,
while smart cities can use
technology to observe the
trends across all buildings in
the city.
Despite the high initial ex-
penditure involved and the
need for manual and routine
adjustments, the implementa-
tion of smart cooling systems is
increasingly becoming a nec-
essary expense for larger build-
ings, as these systems enhance
operational cost savings.
“The current market trends
are very encouraging for us.
We are among the market
leaders in the technology. We
are very bullish towards our
market growth and are plan-
ning to achieve a turnover of
Rs.5,000 crore per year by the
year 2020,” Chouhan said. <
