Hine was a talented photographer and
sociologist, and spent much of his life
documenting big topics such as the
expansion of the steel industry, child labour
(Hine would go into factories undercover to
photograph the underage illegal workers) and
the American Red Cross relief work in
Europe. Hine died at the age of 66 in 1940.
