bringsa raftoftweakstotheformula.

Firstupis thenewdesign.Thewholemousehasbeen

smartenedup,witha simplerlinepatternreplacingthe

trianglesofold.Thewholeofthebackofthemouseis also

nowcoveredinrubberforbetteroverallgripandcomfort,

andtheLEDindicatorforthebatterylevelhasbeenmovedto

a positionbehindthesecondscrollwheel,whereit’seasier

tosee.TheUSBporthasalsobeenupdatedtoUSBType-C,

soit’smorelikelyyou’llbeabletorelyona singlecableforall

yourchargingneeds.

Thesecondbigchangeis thescrollwheel.It’s

nowa solidpieceofsteel,withthegriplines

knurledrightintoitssurface.What’smore,it offers

a clevernewscrollingsystem.Likeprevious

versionsoftheMXMaster,youcanswitchthe

mousebetweena freewheelingora click-by-click

styleofscrolling,butherethewholemechanism

comesfromelectromagnets.ThisallowsLogitech

toofferanintermediarymode,wherethewheel

clickswhenmovedslowlybutfreewheelswhen

rolledquickly.A secondaryall-metalscrollwheel

sitsunderthethumb,whichcanbeusedfora

varietyofuses,suchassidewaysscrolling.

Underthethumb,onthelargethumb-rest

platform,is anotherextrabuttonthatcanbeusedin

conjunctionwithmousemovementstoperform

fourextrafunctions.Holdit downandmovethe

mouseup,down,leftorrightandyoucansetoff

oneofdozensoffunctions,suchasswitching

desktops or pausing

media playback.

If you use Logitech’s

Flow software,

you can also use

thecopy and paste

between computers

(even between Mac and

Windows). Just copy your

content,move the mouse

totheedge of the screen

(youcansetup the gesture in

thesoftware), and the cursor

andcontentwill appear on your

otherdevice.

It alladdsuptoa mousethat’sfantastically versatile when

it comestogeneraldesktopwork,especially when you

factorinitsDarkfieldsensor,whichcanwork on just about

anysurface,includingglass.However,we do wish there was

justa littlemorefreedomtocompletelycustomise the

functionofeachbuttonandwheel.

Therearetwomaincaveats.Thefirstis that this mouse is

quiteheavybymodernstandards(141g), and the other is that

a lotofthedesktopfeatures– Logitech

Flowaside– canbereplicatedby

keyboardshortcuts,whichwefound

easiertouse.

Conclusion

TheMaster3 is a fantasticallyuseful,

easy-to-useandcomfortablemouse

thatbringsa wealthofgenuinelyuseful

featurestoyourgeneraldesktop

computing.It’snogoodforgaming,it’s

quiteheavyandit’salsopricey,butit’sa

greatoptionasaneverydayworktool.
