BENCHMARK RESULTS

The Katana’s tweaked card was generally a couple of

frames per second faster than the stock-speed GPU in the

PC Specialist too. This cheaper system does have a little

more gaming power, but it’s not a transformative leap.

Meanwhile, the Ryzen 7 3700X’s lesser clock speed made

it marginally slower than the PC Specialist rig in our single-

threaded image editing test, and it fell further behind in the

multi-threaded Handbrake benchmark. It’s still a great chip at

the price, though, with enough power to handle games,

productivity tools and content-creation apps. The PC

Specialist will just be a little faster.

The Katana performed well in thermal tests too, despite its

lack of air intakes. The CPU and GPU delta Ts of 55°C and

43°C are fine. There’s consistent noise from this machine,

especially when the CPU is stressed, but it’s no worse than

the noise from its rival.

Conclusion

The overclocked RTX 2070 Super is the star of the show here

• it offers amazing performance in this sub-£1,400 rig.
  Elsewhere, the Katana is more ordinary though. The CPU
  and case are fine, but the PC Specialist is better, and it has an
  X570 motherboard too. If you’re looking to get the fastest
  gaming performance for a limited budget, though, the
  Overclockers machine offers a lot of gaming power for
  a relatively low price.
