For the Mac, Apple has also introduced the Find
My app present in this year’s iPadOS and iOS
13, while Screen Time has been brought over
from the iPhone and iPad. Hence, your device
usage habits can now be tracked across a wide
range of Apple devices. With redesigns of the
Photos, Safari and Reminders apps on the Mac,
too, it seems a lot to take in – but in this article,
we will look closer at the most exciting features
of Catalina and how you can make the most of
the software.

iTUNES FINALLY REACHES THE END OF
THE LINE ON THE MAC

We’ve reached the end of an era – as iTunes, the
app that launched as a music player on the Mac
back in 2001, has finally been removed with the
release of Catalina. While iTunes is still available
on Windows PCs, in its place are several apps
that, as you use them, could easily remind you
of their counterparts on iPhone and iPad. The
Music app, for example, is very much built around
Apple Music, although the iTunes Store remains
available for traditional music downloads.

Meanwhile, the Podcasts and TV apps work
much like their mobile equivalents, with options
aplenty for keeping track of new content from
your favorite creators. Fancy something new?
Check out the “Listen Now” feature on Podcasts
or “Watch Now” feature on TV for tailored
recommendations. Both apps also allow for
flexible content consumption, as podcasts can
be downloaded for offline listening, while you
can start watching TV content on one device
and finish it on another.
