Planet Earth II
Your best scenes

Ten years ago the original Planet Earth proved that a nature series could
be a TV blockbuster. But its sequel has beaten its own record, becoming the
most-watched natural history documentary of the last 15 years - even beating
X Factor viewing figures. Why? Perhaps because it served as the perfect
antidote to 2016, transporting us from our sofas on Sunday nights to meet
some of the world’s most beautiful creatures in the greatest show on Earth.

It has made us laugh, gasp, sigh and cry. We have rooted for the prey, worried
about the predator and wondered how we’d fare in the wilderness.
The series is a great reminder that connecting with the natural world really
does fuel happiness, and has been an inspiration to get outdoors. Whenever
something struck a chord, Twitter was abuzz with your responses – some of
them funny, some emotional, but all a sign of how affecting nature can be.

JUNGLE BOOGIE DANCING BEARS
Much like Baloo in The Jungle Book, PEII’s grizzly bears helped us forget
about our worries and our strife. Watching the cuddly creatures dance with
wild abandon, rubbing themselves vigorously against trees to scratch an
apparently unreachable itch, seemed to cheer people up.

ROAR FOOTAGE GIRAFFE ESCAPE
In a boxing match between a lioness and a giraffe you’d expect the former to
win easily. But when one tried to outrun the tallest mammal on Earth, she
found out quickly who is boss of the desert, and went home without any
lunch. The attack left many of you rooting for her long-necked prey.

Shots of the
dancing bears.

Still can’t get over
a giraffe being
quicker than a lion

I don’t want the lions
to starve yet I’m
screaming ‘run Forest
run!’ at the giraffe.
So many conflicting
emotions
