A FAB FIRST
I am a zoology graduate from the University
of Bristol and am currently studying for an
MSc in science communication at UWE.
Congrats on a fabulous first issue of
BBC Earth - it’s so awesome! I love the
photography, layout, feature ideas and
conversational style.
It’s so engaging and more approachable
than Nat Geo in many ways. It speaks to a
wider audience, which is so important.
I really like the focus on wildlife filmmaking
- with Planet Earth II such an undeniable
hit, the desire to make it into this industry
is greater than ever and you have provided
some practical and actually useful advice.
I particularly enjoyed the feature on
bringing back the woolly mammoth - I’m
writing an essay discussing the
controversies surrounding ‘de-extinction’
for some coursework.
I also enjoyed the feature on VR as I’m
involved in a group project producing a
15-minute science radio show at the BBC in
Bristol and we are discussing VR quite
heavily within it.
Thanks for producing such a refreshing
and great magazine! A subscription is on the
Christmas list!

TOP OF THE RANGE
Congratulations on BBC Earth – what an
excellent magazine! It’s refreshing to read
such a diverse range of features at a time
when content is becoming so specialised.

JOLLY MIXTURE
May I congratulate you all on the production
of a really good magazine. A really
nice mixture of topics: nature, science,
geography... Absolutely brilliant.

KEEN LEARNER
I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the
first issue of BBC Earth.
I particularly love all the wildlife stuff and
the photographs, but the magazine is packed
with so much information. It’s good to learn
new things.
The polar bear piece was amazing. Keep
up the good work.

FRIENDLY ADVICE
I already religiously read BBC Wildlife
magazine so I bought BBC Earth when a
friend told me the issue was coming out and
I’m extremely grateful he did. I absolutely
love BBC Earth magazine and I will be buying
every issue along with BBC Wildlife.

LONDON CALLING
You’ve said that Planet Earth II is a love letter
to the planet and I think this brings more to
that story. Fantastic work on the first issue, I
am buzzing to get the next magazine.
I have always been drawn to the work of
author Jack London and felt that all of us
humans hear the same Call of the Wild as
Buck in that book. We don’t always feed our
connection and relationship with nature.

Our launch issue feature
on resurrecting the
mammoth and other
extinct species was a
reader favourite
