SUPERSAIL WORLD 54 APRIL-JUNE 2018
SUPERYACHT CUP
PALMA 2018 ENTRIES
SOJANA
35m
Design: Farr
Build: Green Marine 2003
The dark blue ketch was given a new lease of life after an
extensive refit at Southampton Yacht Services in 2016.
She has a keen and well-drilled crew under captain Loz
Marriott and fellow offshore racer Jonny Malbon, and has
put in polished performances at recent major superyacht
events, including the St Barths Bucket and last years’s
America’s Cup regatta
VELSHEDA – JK7
39.25m
Design: Charles Nicholson/Dykstra
Build: Camper & Nicholsons 1993/SYS 1997
You can recognise the famous dark blue J anywhere, with
her pristine dark hull and red, white and blue spinnaker.
She is always race ready, continually optimised and very
well-prepared, with a highly experienced crew. Despite
surrendering size to the more recently built Svea, she is
always poised and ready to win. It will be interesting to
see her compete in a diverse handicap fleet context
SVEA – JS1
43.6m
Design: Tore Holm 1937/Hoek Design
Build: Vitters 2017
The newest addition to the mighty
J Class was launched in 2017 and went straight into
competition in Bermuda and Newport. She was always set
up for no-compromise racing, and has delivered. She is
fresh from winning the J Class racing at St Barths Bucket.
Class competition competition comes from veterans
Velsheda and Ranger, but racing within a wider fleet will
make the Superyacht Cup a different game to the norm
WINWIN
33m
Design: Javier Jaudenes
Build: Baltic Yachts 2014
This sleek and modern carbon composite Baltic 108 is still
considered the epitome of the new breed of superyacht racer
cruisers. Designed by Mallorcan Javier Jaudenes, she grabs
the limelight wherever she races. Her wide, powerful hull
shape gives here the capability of some very quick speeds,
especially when reaching, and with her big green A-sail, she is
a spectator’s and photographer’s delight... A win-win
