his is The Blue Peter enjoying a fantastic
day’s sailing during Antigua Classic
Yacht Regatta in April and on her way to
winning Vintage Class B.
The Blue Peter, named after the racing
preparatory flag, was built at Burnham-on-
Crouch in 1930 to an Alfred Mylne design.
Originally 55ft/16.7m, in 1938 she was
lengthened by 10ft as her owner, Desmond
Mollins, wanted a bigger boat but couldn’t bear
to part with her. She is now keenly raced in the
Med and Caribbean.
