Australian yard Maritimo has been
rather quiet on the new model front
of late but it arrived at the Palma
Boat Show with a fresh addition to
its range of enclosed flybridge semi-
custom cruisers. Though the idea
of sealing off the flybridge from the
elements may seem counterintuitive
to some, in countries that are very hot
or cold, the ability to climate control
the top deck makes plenty of sense.
With the double helm station
up top, there is more space on the
main deck for seating, the standard
layout featuring a square seating
area forward leaving a spacious
walk-in galley aft. Some space is
gobbled up by the internal staircase
which leads up to the flybridge, where
an L-shaped dinette allows guests to
enjoy the elevated views.
Below decks, there is a three-cabin
arrangement with a full-beam master
ensuite at its centre. This is a spacious
cabin with an angled double berth and

space for a small study area, as well
as the ensuite. Three gill-like hull
windows on either side provide
natural light.
The guest cabins comprise a VIP
forward with ensuite access to the
day heads and a twin cabin that can
be specified as a double if preferred.
Being a semi-custom build, the layout
is quite flexible. There is the option
to fit a gym or even a piano!
Standard power comes from a pair of
725hp Volvo Penta D11s, good for a top
speed of 28 knots and a 500-mile
range at cruising speed. A 4,440-litre
fuel capacity delivers a 2,500-mile
range at 7 knots. A twin 800hp engine
option is available too, which should
deliver a couple more knots flat out.
The M59 is certainly a left-field
choice but it has plenty going for it.
