Motor Boat & Yachting - July 2018

(C. Jardin) #1
The Chase Boat, designed by Dutch
architects Hoek Design and in build
at the Claasen Shipyard, is being
presented as a shadow boat for
a superyacht; a vessel to be used
for ferrying guests to and from
the mothership or for the owner
to commandeer and head off to
explore without the crew in tow.
However, the Chase Boat also
makes for an achingly stylish and
thoroughly unique motor yacht
that offers an alternative to more
mainstream 75ft craft. On the
one hand it is, amazingly, a 75ft

tender, on the other hand, it is a boat
dripping with class that’s endowed
with enough space to cosset its
owner and guests in wood and
leather-lined luxury.
The boat’s lines are as elegant
as they come with the flared bow
drawing back to a slender, rounded
transom and the bulwarks topped
with highly varnished timber. Hoek
promises superyacht levels of fit
and finish with everything except
the aluminium hull being completed
by Classen, a yard that has J-Class
yacht builds on its impressive CV.

Due to the Chase Boat’s intended use,
the deck spaces are sparse, though
the sheltered cockpit
and pilothouse combine to make
a wonderful main socialising area.

Below decks, hull number one has
a pair of very spacious double cabins,
both with ensuites large enough to
include his ‘n’ hers sinks. The layout
is flexible though, and can be tuned
to customers’ tastes.
The boat uses a pair of Scania
925hp diesel engines driving straight
shafts. The yard claims that the top
speed will be 25 knots with a 15-knot
cruising speed, producing a range of
750 miles.
