In January this year, spy shots appeared online of a mysterious open sportsboat

with a crazily bright hull wrap perched on a trailer outside the Ben Ainslie

Racing HQ in Portsmouth. The rumour mill began to whir: are BAR building

powerboats? If not, who’s behind this? What is that colour scheme all about?

The speculation stopped when Princess Yachts announced that it had been

developing a 50-knot sportsboat with BAR Technologies that harnessed foiling

technology. Fast-forward to spring and we’re given a world-exclusive sea trial

of the prototype that is a blueprint for the most radical Princess ever made.
