“I’ve always wanted a beautiful classic yacht,

so when I got some money, I took my chance”

OWN A CLASSIC
Classic vessels come in all shapes,
ages and sizes, and need not only be
made of wood. Older GRP vessels are
considered classics and in Europe
have regenerated yacht ownership
by allowing the less affluent to buy
seaworthy vessels. To a lesser extent,
this is happening here in Australia
where classic vessels — such as the
Clansman 30s at the show — and my
own vessel, a 43 year old Contessa 25,
are affordable and sturdy boats; so
perhaps check out the classifieds in
Trade-a-Boatfor your own piece of
history.
