Harris has dropped “FloteBote” from its name, but what
has remained the same over the years is its focus on
its customers. In this photo from 2012 you can see the
NMMA Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) award banners
hanging from the
ceiling, which
currently stands
at 14 consecutive
CSI awards and
counting.

Capturing the art

of manufacturing

By Brady L. Kay

The days of manually lifting heavy
pontoon logs are in the past as the new
state-of-the-art equipment allows workers
to effortlessly move the pontoons as
needed.

I’ve always been fascinated
with the fabrication assembly
process. It started back in
college when I worked for a
company which built fitness
equipment. Seeing a pile of
raw materials transformed into
treadmills, exercise bikes and
ellipticals by the time it got to
the end of the assembly line
intrigued me. It also made me
question out loud where all
these treadmills were going
as hundreds were shipped
out daily. You would think
after so many years everyone
in the world would have a
treadmill, yet this company
kept producing more and more
each day.
