“There is no doubt that Mona-
co, and the other pearls on the
Cote d’Azur, are the most visited
destinations and harbours in the
Mediterranean waters, especially
for superyachts. Yachting has a
major impact on Monaco – not only is it “a must” stop
destination, it is home to a major boat show, offers
some of the most scenic waters in the world, and the
yachting industry has a significant influence on the
local economy on several levels. So let us celebrate
yachting, whether private or charter, for the weekend
or a month, the important point is that the yachts
are taken out and enjoyed. Welcome summer and
welcome yachting!”

“My job takes me to many beau-
tiful and sunny places and in the
past year I visited -amongst oth-
ers- Greece twice, cruised the wa-
ters of Croatia and Montenegro is
getting a visit this summer. Thus, I
decided it was time to feature some of the highlights
of the Eastern Mediterranean. (see page 52).
If you are chartering in the Monaco area and feel
like adding variety to your holiday, the lovely people
at Luxury Water Toys have selected some great
gadgets for fun on the water. (see page 46).
Wishing you a great summer and see you in Monaco
in September.”

“After months of international
travel, it is regatta and spring party
time. A brief interlude to enjoy
some relaxing and sailing before
coming back with more exciting
news and developments.
We are looking forward to September where we can
showcase our progress and expansion at the Cannes
and Monaco Yacht Shows.”

“Summer is upon
us once again and
a large number of
yacht owners will
be descending to
the Mediterranean
to sample the glamorous lifestyle,
picturesque beaches and the glori-
ous sunshine. However, the annual
influx of tourists also comes parallel
with an influx of organised criminal
gangs. Yachts and luxury homes are
clear symbols of wealth that are high
on the list of targets for these gangs.
In this edition, I give you some ad-
vice on how to protect your home or
yacht from unwanted intrusion
(see page 34).”

“There are few
more iconic symbols
than the Spirit of
Ecstasy. Exploring
Rolls-Royce’s new
off road vehicle was
eye-opening and fascinating. Explore
the Cullinan yourself (see page 60)
and discover the first super-luxury
all-terrain SUV.”

“Charter season
in the Med is truly
afoot, and it will
be an interesting
season with new
players in the mar-
ket from the digital world, such as
the much talked about and maligned
Ahoy Club which is shaking the mar-
ket up. This issue, as ever, I will be
looking at the owner and charterers
interests exploring how to protect
your charter (see page 30). I do hope
everyone has as good summer on
the water. “

”Monaco’s Tony
Mackay is set to
intensify compe-
tition in the cryp-
tocurrency arena
later this year with
the launch of Kryptos-X, a digital
asset marketplace with a difference
(see page 26). I spent a morning talk-
ing to him about his plans and the
impact cryptocurrencies are going
to have on the financial landscape
going forward.”
