Lloyd Stevenson Boatbuilders has made
changes to its management team with
the recent appointments of
Jeremy Anderson as General Manager
and Luke Hill as Marketing
and People Manager.
With over 30 years experience as a
boat builder, project and operations
manager, Jeremy has been with Lloyd
Stevenson Boatbuilders for 17 years.
“Jeremy’s is a newly-created position,
which in part recognises the leadership
role he has been filling anyway. He is an
integral part of our team and has played
a pivotal role in the sustained period of
growth we have enjoyed,” says Luke.
Luke has been with Lloyd Stevenson
Boatbuilders for six years, his role
expanding to encompass all aspects of
people management, marketing
and, increasingly, sales.
Company directors Lloyd and Tracey
Stevenson will continue to ofer sound
leadership and remain involved in the
business on a day-to-day basis.
“It’s an exciting time for LSB,” says Lloyd,
“We have been at capacity for the last
few years and these changes are about
building that capacity to sustain our
future growth.”

The new X60 from Maritimo made its world
premiere at the 30th Annual Sanctuary Cove
International Boat Show in May this year. The
model had already generated wide international
interest and sales prior to the show.
Development has also commenced on the
Maritimo X50, which will be introduced at Sydney
International Boat Show in August. New Zealand
should see the first X60 in time for the Auckland
On Water Boat Show in September.

The X-Series design boasts a versatile aft cabin
space with high levels of custom-ability. Accessible
from saloon and swim platform, it can be arranged
as beach club, additional stateroom, tender garage,
euro galley or other custom options.
Maritimo credits the early momentum in
sales to the value of the design’s increased
accommodation space compared to its
competitors.

Some anti-fouling paints can no longer be
imported or manufactured in New Zealand after
the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA)
determined they are too toxic to marine life.
Dr Stephen Cobb from the EPA’s
Hazardous Substances Group says anti-fouling
paints that contain the chemicals diuron,
octhilinone or ziram are now banned.
“These paints are slow-release toxic
coatings, and when numbers of boats are
moored together in marinas and harbours, the
substances build up to concentrations that
can afect people and the environment.
“Anti-fouling paints have been a key
biosecurity measure to prevent unwanted
organisms being introduced and spread, and
there are now alternatives which are less toxic to
marine life in high concentrations,” says Cobb.
“An EPA decision-making committee
decided in a reassessment that the risks from
some anti-fouling paints outweigh the benefits
under the Hazardous Substances and New
Organisms Act.
“Retailers can continue to sell and use
remaining stock, and the public can continue
to use the last of their products if they wish,”
he adds.
From June 2023, anti-fouling paints that
contain thiram will also be banned.
