Top GRP trailer boat manufacturer Rayglass Boats has
continued its winning streak at the Hutchwilco New
Zealand Boat Show’s Boat of the Show Awards.
Both Rayglass entries won their categories, the Legend
2500 winning All Purpose Family Boat Up To 8 Metres and
the Legend 2800 winning All Purpose Family Boat Open.
Manufacturers can only enter a maximum of two models
into the prestigious annual awards. 2018 marked the eighth
straight year that both Rayglass entries have won their
categories.
Rayglass is the most awarded boat manufacturer in New
Zealand history, having won 35 Boat of the Show Awards
since 2000.
The company has also won the coveted Boat of
the Show Supreme Award, the country’s most highly
valued boatbuilding award, an impressive six times while
the Raylass Legend 2500 (8 awards) and the Rayglass
Legend 2800 (6) are two of the most awarded boats ever
produced.
Rayglass founder Tony Hembrow was also honoured
at this year’s awards, inducted into the prestigious New
Zealand Boat Show Hall of Fame for his 35 years of service
to the New Zealand marine industry and the show.

The X range of performance cruisers incorporates the best elements
from both the Xcruising range and the Xperformance range.
The hull design maximises sailing performance in all wind conditions,
courtesy of its generous sail plan, high quality mast and rig and
discontinuous rod rigging.
The deck layout features a self-taking jib, with the sheet handled
by one of the halyard winches, and a mainsheet track recessed into
the cockpit sole with an 8:1 purchase traveller control system. Each
of the twin wheels is connected to its own quadrant with completely
independent wire systems for safety and redundancy.
Toughened glass coachroof windows flood the interior with natural
light, while large flush skylights and opening side windows provide
excellent ventilation. Teak is standard in the cockpit – optional on side
decks and the coach roof top – as well as on the electrically operated
bathing platform.
Available in three or four cabin variants, the X46 has two bathrooms,
a forward facing nav station, electrical switchboard and space for
optional navigational, communicational and radio equipment behind
locker doors.
The new X46 will debut in July 2018.
