Even if you never see your name listed in the IGFA’s annual record book that
doesn’t mean your great catches and personal angling achievements can’t
be recognised.
The IGFA’s Catch Certificates are designed to help anglers commemorate their personal
accomplishments on the water, regardless of the species or the size of the catch.
BlueWater’s Office Manager, Trish Simpson, caught what may have been a 60kg
line class Women’s world record Pacific blue marlin while fishing off Kona, Hawaii
last September. The huge marlin was brought alongside where the captain and crew
estimated it at between 375 and 450kg, meaning she would be stretching her luck to
beat the current world record of 434.54kg. Instead, Trish decided to tag and release
her magnificent fish, forgoing her chance at the world record. It was a mighty catch and
one she is justifiably proud of, so by ordering an IGFA Catch Certificate her achievement
is now framed alongside a photo of the catch and the memories will be rekindled and
treasured forever.
If you have a great catch that you want to recognise with an IGFA Catch Certificate

  • or if you would like to give one as a gift to a friend – email IGFA’s Jack Vitek at
[email protected]. They cost US$20 each.
