ith a new Olympic
campaign comes
an exciting new
partnership. My
new crew, Eilidh
and I haven’t done an awful lot together
yet, but things are already off to a
really positive start. We competed at
two events last summer which went
really well. They were a bit of a trial
for both of us to see whether or not we
thought the partnership could work.
For Rio 2016, Saskia and I trained with
Eilidh and Sophie (Weguelin) – I was and
still am so grateful to them for all their
help. I can’t think of anything harder
than missing out on selection for the
Olympics, putting that behind you and
then being the best training partners you
possibly can to your other teammates.
The support that the girls showed us was
amazing and we owe them a great deal.
Eilidh and Sophie’s sailing partnership
came to an end in February 2017 and
it immediately crossed my mind that I
could perhaps sail with Eilidh in the 470
class. A few months later, Eilidh phoned
to ask if I wanted to sail with her – I
