Thenextmorning,weenjoyawarm-upactforthe
whalesharks,takingthefastRIBtothenorthernendof
Partida,whereasealioncolonyclaimsagroupofrocks
calledLosIslotes.SlippingintothewaterfromtheRIB,
wespotapackofpups,whichcuriouslyswimupandthen
darttoandfro,backflipping
anddaringustochasethem.
“Justlikethesealionsinthe
Galápagos,” says O’Sullivan,
“they are very playful and
love to swim with you and
occasionally slap your
bottom with their flippers.”
Afteranexhilarating
excursion,welookuptosee
thatKomokwa has circled
aroundtopickusuphere
and bring us back down to
Puerto Ballena, a three-lobed bay surrounded by rocky
clifs,paintedbynatureindeepbrownsandbright
reds.It’stheidealspotforwatersports,andthewater
skis,paddleboardsandkayaksaresoonlaunched.WeVoyage
