New Zealand made RIBs are garnering an
international reputation for quality.
The latest RIBs from Auckland’s Southern
Pacific Inflatables include a new tender
for a visiting superyacht built in a stunning
military grey and carbon-black to match the
mothership’s colour scheme.
The specification was for a Cormorant
430 with Orca Hypalon tubes and a
lightweight alloy hull to ensure ease of
lifting and deployment. Coupled with a new
Suzuki DF40 tiller-steer featuring ‘lean burn’
technology, the RIB goes like a “burnt boot”.
With an open deck and large-diameter
tubes, this RIB carries payloads of up to 720kg
at a good clip, while keeping its crew dry and
comfortable.

McMullen & Wing will design and build a 12m dive operations vessel for leading
commercial dive company DiveCo.
A development of McMullen & Wing’s successful Auckland and Bay of
Plenty multi-role Harbourmaster vessels, DiveCo’s vessel will be tailor-made
to support safe and efcient commercial diving operations.
The new vessel will generate three-phase electrical power with high and
low-pressure dive compressors serving umbilical-based divers. It will sport a
three-diver control panel and surface-to-diver communication systems.
Underwater survey is a major part of DiveCo’s business, so the new
vessel will have a large, enclosed cabin with CCTV monitor, ample seating
and a work table, as well as a shower, a generous head, a small galley and
two MSA-compliant sleeping berths.
A large Palfinger crane reaches up to five metres, while a smaller custom-
made manual/electric davit is also fitted.
Construction starts in April and the handover is scheduled for November
2018.

In 2016 X-Yachts launched the X range, incorporating the best
elements from the Xcruising range and the Xperformance.
In January 2018, the first design layouts of the X46 were revealed
at Boot Düsseldorf. The X46 will be “...the ideal family cruiser that
can also get a bit racy at the weekend,” says Niels Jeppesen, X46
Design Director.
The X46 maximises sailing performance in all wind conditions.
It features a generous sail plan, a high-quality mast and rig and
discontinuous rod rigging as standard.
Each of the twin wheels is independently connected to its own
quadrant and a common-rail diesel drives a Flexofold propeller.
The interior is bathed in natural light with opening side windows
providing excellent ventilation. Teak in the cockpit is standard –
optional on the side decks, coachroof and electrically-operated
bathing platform.
The interior features two aft cabins, a large owner’s cabin with a
king-sized double berth, L-shaped galley and two bathrooms. The
nav station, electrical switchboard and locker space are to starboard.
The new X46 will debut in July 2018.
