ANDREW DE LAUTOUR
FI-GLASS
Andrew de Lautour has been appointed
General Manager of the Fi-Glass
group of companies.
He returns to Fi-Glass after successful
careers in sales, marketing and tourism,
most recently eight years with well-known
New Zealand tourism company JUCY.
Andrew first started working with Grif
Simpson, now the Managing Director of
Fi-Glass, and his brother Michael, in 1999.
He ran the sales department at Mr Boats
from 2001 to 2004.
Andrew left Mr Boats for a boat hire
company in Vancouver, Canada, but
returned to New Zealand in 2006, taking
a sales and marketing role with O’Brien
watersports equipment in Auckland.
During his time with JUCY, he was involved
in many new business projects, including
the first JUCY Hotel in Auckland. He
instigated and managed significant growth
for JUCY in Australia, where he established
a head ofce in Brisbane.
During four-and-a-half years as Jucy’s GM
in Australia, the fleet grew from 460 to over
1150 vehicles, with seven branches and
three new workshops across Australia.
In his new role as General Manager of
the Fi-Glass group of companies, Andrew
will be responsible for all areas of the
operation, including manufacturing and
wholesale of new Fi-Glass boats, and retail
sales of new and used boats in Christchurch
and Timaru through the company’s
retail arm Mr Boats.
“Like JUCY, Fi-Glass is a well-known and
respected New Zealand brand, and I am
looking forward to leading it through its
next growth phase,” says Andrew.
Grif Simpson will remove himself from
the day-to-day operations of the business
to focus on bigger picture projects,
including building a new retail showroom
in Christchurch and releasing a new boat
to coincide with the company’s 60th
anniversary celebrations later in 2018.
“I see this as a great opportunity to grow
the wholesale branch of the business,
and Andrew will be working closely with
the existing Fi-Glass dealer network
around New Zealand, Australia and the
Pacific Islands,” says Simpson.
